Japandroids

A simple fast and fun two piece band from Vancouver, BC. Their first album “Post Nothing” runs just over 30 minutes with the 8 tracks on the recording. They have two previous EPs “All Lies” & “Lullaby
Death Jams”. The official genre for this band is Noise Pop which is very similar to shoegaze.

The band uses highly effect driven guitar with a lot of noise and feedback. Their lyrics seem simple but still have depth in the whole meaning. “Young Hearts Spark Fire” seems to be about finally
realizing you have grown up with the line, “We used to dream but now we worry about dying”. But undoubtably our favorite lyric is “We run the gauntlet, let’s get to France, so we can French Kiss
some French girls.”

Weekly Mixtape!

This song has been on an almost constant loop. Friendly Fires — “Paris” (Aeroplane Remix).
it needs to have a killer video like the original track.

Spoon tops the charts this week with their new album Transference.  Spoon — “Written in Reverse”

They knocked Vampire Weekend down from their one week old on the #1 spot. Vampire Weekend opened up for them at San Diego in December.  Both “Contra” and “Transference” maintain each bands signature sound. Which in this day an age it seems that not only art but originality is hard.

This producer Breakbot invented a new style of music that is called something like “synthfunk”. The Whitest Boy Alive have been producing nothing but sonic goodness lately. Give a multi-track to Fred Falke and you have yourself something to dance to. Who added such a nice touch to such a lovely Grizzly Bear song with a creepy video and an animated one.

The duo Japandroids, I hate to say it are a “breath of fresh air” not that they aren’t fresh it’s just I don’t have a better metaphor for it. But Young Hearts Spark Fire is a great simple, fresh, fast, and fun song about life and growing up.
