IRRH — The Dismemberment Plan

The Indie Rock Retirement Home presents: The Dismemberment Plan

Details: They got their name from a line in “Ground Hog Day”. They managed to record while signed to Interscope Records but then somehow were released from the contract with no debt to the label. The band referred to it as “slipping through the cracks.”
Retired: Seems like they just walked in the door to retirement for no better reason.
Favorite Songs: Ice of Boston / All of the Emergency & I album
Last Seen: A two year stint with Maritime, playing in Statehood, couple solo projects, and sleeping with each others sisters.
Reunion show: Travis said — “probably won’t be getting back together, except to drink beer” and also most recently “No shows, no records, no band. Just relaxing in Brooklyn”

IRRH — This Day Forward

The Indie Rock Retirement Home presents: This Day Forward

The Indie Rock Retirement Home presents: This Day Forward

This Day Forward
Details: A metal fueled hardcore ruckus straight from Philly that ended up bottle rocketing into retirement.
Retired: They did not survive a change of music style shown on “In Response” and apparently got very disillusioned by the hardcore scene. Apparently the hardcore kids do not like a band that actually sings and carries a melody. Go slam dance yourself in front of a train, assholes.
Favorite Songs: The entire “In Response” album. Genius.
Last Seen: Either in Circa Survive or working with other Philly favorites Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer and Hot Cross.
Reunion show?: “Hey, it could happen”

The Indie Rock Retirement Home presents: The Blood Brothers

The Indie Rock Retirement Home Presents:

The Blood Brothers

Details: If you wrecked a burning car full of screaming Jaguar’s into a drunken orchestra you may almost capture the sound of The Blood Brothers.
Retired: After 10 years in 2007 they said, “We drifted apart, as people do”
Favorite Songs: Set fire to the face on fire / Trash Flavored Trash
Last Seen: They are all over the place Head Wound City, Jaguar Love, Crystal City Clothing, and more.
Reunion show?: It is possible, nothing on the radar.

Favorite Songs: Hutton’s Great Heat Engine / Dali’s Praying Mantis
Last Seen: Out of the retirement home and playing in Minus the Bear, These Arms Are Snakes, and Russian Circles.
Reunion show: Very doubtful all the former members are quite busy.

IRRH — At the Drive-in

At the Drive-in
Details: Call it progressive hardcore punk maybe but this band did for music in the 90’s what Zeppelin and Pink Floyd did in their days and that is saying a lot.
Retired: “You’re a robot, you’re a sheep.. BAAHHH!!” were probably the famous last words of Cedric as At the Drive-in played their last major show. The classic drugs + artistic differences brought these fellows in.
Favorite Songs: Cosmonaut / Sam Farraday likes Napoleon Solo.
Last Seen: Well the two sides of the ATDI coin were seen as Sparta (the alternative rock side) and The Mars Volta (the progressive side). Sparta has since called it quits and Jim Ward has gone solo (in the hardcore->progressive->folk musical direction) as the other members played our favorite retirement home game of “Musical bands”. The Mars Volta is still the number one soundtrack to current acid trips.
Reunion show?: Let’s just say they are “talking” and I am keeping a few hundred dollars saved up for a plane ticket.
