Mostly known around the block for being a one hit wonder in the late
nineties with their single “Flagpole Sitta”. Harvey Danger seemed like
they were just there and gone. But this band actually had a long 15 year
run. To put it in perspective they were active longer than Guns N’ Roses
and actually put out more solid musical work. Alas with most bands in
this situation it is usually the suits to blame. As they were caught in
record label limbo. But years after they got lost in a file cabinet they
made their best effort on their own.
They had three albums, a string or EP’s, and a very limited release of a
B-side collection. If you are unsure of this band just sit down and
listen to Little by Little. Their last album which showed how well the
band matured and fined tuned their sound in their years of sporadic
activity. With emerging from musical purgatory they released Little by
Little and it is still widely available for free.
Give Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone? another listen and you will
realize that it is a very solid album that fully captures the racous yet
unique to the nineties alternative sound that this band carved out for
themselves. They also have wrote one of the most honest and true
Christmas songs of our generation. Yet, most have yet to hear any of it.
The bands final release is a B-side collection called Dead Sea Scrolls.
It as of today only sold at the farewell shows. I contacted the band about it:
WeAArU: Is Dead Sea Scrolls ever going to hit Amazon or Itunes for us long distance fans?
Harvey Danger: Amazon seems unlikely , but possibly iTunes. It’s complicated to work out, but we’ll make it available in some form soon.
WeAArU: Awesome. I am bummed I missed the final shows. I worked for the music industry for a while so I know about the problems that arise. Best of luck to the band and all of your future endeavors.
You can watch some songs they performed on Youtube
(http://www.youtube.com/user/xIAmTheWindx)
including a good recording of “The Show Must Not Go On” which is the last song they wrote
and performed.

The band is still very active on their Forum and on Facebook and plan on releasing their
last song: “The Show Must not Go On” which they just recently wrapped up recoding very soon.
So what now for the band? They posted a goodbye letter on their site, myspace, and facebook.

Sean Nelson (lead vocals) is working on films as for the rest of the group they are still active
and will more than likely share what they are up to among the Harvey Danger network.
