The Dismemberment Plan’s Emergency & I as been on a constant rotation. Grizzly Bear joins the cover / collab train by covering Hot Chip’s Boy From School. Speaking of Hot Chip they released a new album “One Life Stand” including this song “Thieves in the night”. Phantogram’s full length “Eyelid Movies” it out check out “Turn if Off” (hey I made that video!). Soulful indie rocker Florence + The Machine wants to tell us the “Dog Days” are over. Someone remixed The Beatles and did the song justice, “Come Together (David Starfire rmx)”. Electro rockers Passion Pit have been rather busy remixing “This To Shall Pass” an Ok Go song and there is a release of a piano version of “Sleepyhead”. There is a new Matt & Kim remix floating around. Then Holy Toledo… Vampire Weekend covers Rancid… “Ruby Soho”
This song has been on an almost constant loop. Friendly Fires — “Paris” (Aeroplane Remix).
it needs to have a killer video like the original track.
Spoon tops the charts this week with their new album Transference. Spoon — “Written in Reverse”
They knocked Vampire Weekend down from their one week old on the #1 spot. Vampire Weekend opened up for them at San Diego in December. Both “Contra” and “Transference” maintain each bands signature sound. Which in this day an age it seems that not only art but originality is hard.
This producer Breakbot invented a new style of music that is called something like “synthfunk”. The Whitest Boy Alive have been producing nothing but sonic goodness lately. Give a multi-track to Fred Falke and you have yourself something to dance to. Who added such a nice touch to such a lovely Grizzly Bear song with a creepy video and an animated one.
The duo Japandroids, I hate to say it are a “breath of fresh air” not that they aren’t fresh it’s just I don’t have a better metaphor for it. But Young Hearts Spark Fire is a great simple, fresh, fast, and fun song about life and growing up.
Eighteen classics that molded my music taste over the years.
I miss early nineties Alternative Glam Rock.
Just push play and let it rip.
That is the abridged as EMI doesn’t let you embed their videos (bunch of dicks). So here is the link to rock it right from Youtube.

Here is a New Years Eve / Day Mixtape. Featuring The Dismemberment Plan, Death Cab For Cutie, Thursday, U2, Regina Spektor, Cursive, The Walkmen, and more. All put in a nice YouTube Playlist. It is mostly mellow but with a few rocking and one especially crunk tune.
The Dismemberment Plan’s “The Ice of Boston” has to be our personal favorite. With lyrics like:
Happy New Years!
